Conan’s Pink Daydream

November 14, 2010 Roberta Estes

You know, there are mostly bad ads, a few OK ads, and then, every now and then….there’s a killer ad.  Conan O’Brien’s new American Expres ad, shot in India is just that.  So, here’s my story line with pictures of course.  At the end, you can click on the link to see the original ad for yourself.  It’s truely beautiful and lots of fun packed into less than a minute.

Conan goes to India and in the market, discovers that luscious pink is everyplace, surrounding him.  He drifts in a sumptious sea of pink.

First he sees the veils, and they seem to all be  pink.

Looking around, he realizes the men are wearing pink too.  Conan’s discovers that he loves pink.  Pink is empowering!

Just ask this lady.  Long live pink!

And look at this luscious pink sari.  Conan is in love with India….and maybe the ladies too.  I mean, everyone looks great in pink.

Ok, rewind the daydream back to those luscious ladies waving.

Conan must have pink silk.  He tries the street vendors, but finds nothing as luscious as he has seen.  Pink drives Conan.

Conan knows what he must do.  He’ll make his own pink silk – only the best will do.  He begins by weaving the silk into fabric.

And dieing it.  More berries….I need more berries!!

And washing, and dieing, and washing, until it comes out just perfect.

By jove, I think I’ve got it.

Let’s see…

Ahhhh….yes….just beautiful.  Stunning.  My heart skips a beat.  My soul is basking in pink!  I am the essence of pink….”Conan, Conan…”

“Conan, you’re on” jars him out of his daydream…….but he knows he must go to the market in India on a quest for pink!!!
